Trinity XIX General Prayer

O LORD, God of hosts, hear our prayers and graciously look upon the faces of Your children:

You are our Sun and Shield and bestow blessings upon us without number.  We thank You for the gift of life and especially those who are celebrating birthdays in the Schubert family:  Karl Alan, Melissa, Nancy, Emma, and Elsie.  Grant them every good gift of body and soul.

How blessed we are to be count this place as your house, O God; to gather here and sing Your praises and receive Your gifts of forgiveness and life.  Renew in us a love for Your Word and a zeal to worship You as Your deserve so that we would always say with Jacob:  How awesome is this place!  This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

You have promised to withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly and so grant us those things we need to support our bodies and lives.  Prosper our labor and the work of our hands so that we would be able to support our families -and further Your mission- and help those in need.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the forgiveness we have in Jesus who shed his life’s blood for us upon the cross.  Empower Your church and especially this congregation as we share that message of forgiveness with those around us.

We know that real healing and wholeness is found in Jesus—that his power and compassion is real.  And so grant Your healing to those who are ill and suffering, especially Xavier, Logan, Blake, Noah, Mary, Sharron, J.A., Keith, and Angela.

Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we can truly repent of our sins and be renewed in the image of Your Son Jesus, conforming our lives to His holy example:  speaking the truth, loving our neighbor, and doing good work.

Your Word promises that those who find their strength in You are blessed.  Grant that it would be so in our nation and among our fellow citizens and leaders.  Renew this nation in faith towards You and grant us wisdom, especially during this election year.  Be a shield to our military men and women.

As You guided Jacob, so guide our life’s journey and make our souls long for Your heavenly courts so that we pass through this life in the glad confidence that our home is with You.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
