Easter 5C General Prayer

Gracious heavenly Father, we glorify You and praise Your holy name because Your mercy and love extends to all people.  Continue to bless the witness of Your Church throughout the world so that people of every language, culture, and nation would come to faith in Jesus.

Empower pastors and teachers and missionaries as they share the message of salvation.  Especially do we ask Your blessing upon our school and our teachers that You would give them opportunities to share they Good News of Jesus with their students.

Help us to live in this world as aliens and strangers, always having before our eyes of faith the news heavens and the new earth You will create on the last day.  When we are burdened with mourning and crying and pain, assure us that You dwell with us and that these things will pass away.  Until that day grant us Your healing and strength.  Especially do we pray for Ann, Teresa, and Dan who need Your healing.

During this election season remind us that You are seated on heaven’s throne and You alone are the one, true sovereign ruler of the universe.  Help us and our fellow citizens to elect leaders who acknowledge You as their true King.

We thank You that You have condescended to make Your dwelling place with men, speaking to us in Your Word, feeding us with the body and blood of Your dear Son, and filling our hearts with Your Holy Spirit.  Preserve us in true faith so that we always live in fellowship with You.  Especially do we pray for Cody and Michelle as the celebrate birthdays, that You would bless them in body and soul all their days.

Continue to guide us into all truth by Your Holy Spirit and especially do we ask Your blessing on our catechumens as they prepare for confirmation.

Fill us with joy, knowing that our sins are forgiven by Your Son Jesus Christ and that we have a place in heaven because of his resurrection.  In every sorrow remind us of Your victory over death and the grave so that we would always hope in You.  Especially do we pray for the Fowler family as they mourn Donna’s passing.

Whatever else You see that we need; whatever extends the mission of Your church in this place; whatever serves our neighbor and glorifies You, grant to us dear Father in heaven for we ask it in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
