Gracious heavenly Father, on this day when we call to You in prayer, turn to us and be gracious to us and increase the strength of our soul:
Lord we know that Your steadfast love endures forever even though there are times when we walk in the midst of trouble. Be with us in those times and come to our aid. Grant healing to those who are ill, especially Selah and J.A. and lift up those who are undergoing medical procedures this week, especially Sylvia. Comfort those who mourn and lift up those who are bowed down in spirit. Assure them that Your Son Jesus has power to make death give way to life.
Continue to bless Your people with preachers like Elijah of whom we can say “we know that the Word of the Lord in your mouth is true.” Bless the work of the schools of the church to train workers for service to your people and the mission of the church.
We thank and praise You for choosing us in Christ to be Your own and calling us by the Gospel to take our place in Your kingdom. Empower us to share this Good News of Jesus with those in our community who do not yet know You. Fill us with compassion that identifies with others in their pain and then show us ways to extend Your love into their lives to relieve that pain.
We thank You for the gift of life that You have granted to Stacy in the birth of her first child, Cora Rylee and Amanda as she celebrates a birthday. Keep them close to You all their days. Lead our nation to value all human life and see it as a gift from You to be protected and cherished.
Renew in our fellow citizens a proper fear of You that redounds to Your glory. Watch over our elected and appointed leaders and protect our military personnel from harm and danger and their families from discouragement.
Lord we know that throughout this world are countless millions who are enemies of the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. We also know that You have the power to change their hearts just like You did with Paul. Stretch out Your hand against the wrath of our enemies. Convert those who persecute Christ and protect those who are persecuted for their faith in You.
Continue to fulfill Your saving purpose for our lives through every moment and event. Order all things so that they work to our eternal salvation. And grant to us those things that give glory to You and serve our neighbor. We ask it in Jesus’ name. Amen.
